  • JB DATA ENGINEERING - 2023 SEASON REVIEW

Welcome to the December 2023 JB Data Engineering Newsletter. AS 2023 draws swiftly to a close, welcome to the JB Data Engineering season review! Wow! What a year this has been! We’ve provided data engineering services to teams in the GT Cup Championship, the Fun Cup Endurance Championship and the TCR UK Touring Car Championship, worked as Data Scrutineer for the British Endurance Championship and Britcar Trophy, tested with Revolution Race Cars and JWB Motorsport and supplied our range of data and video logging equipment to teams up and down the paddock. We haven’t stopped since pre-season testing got underway in March and we wanted to share some of the highlights with you as well as express our thanks to everybody we’ve met in 2023! 2024 is just a few days away now so if we can can help you in anyway as you start to prepare for the new season, please contact us on +44 7717 562169 or by email. We’d love to hear from you! GT Cup GT Cup Championship racing is always highly competitive and the 2023 season was no exception. JB Data Engineering was delighted to be invited to join Make Happen Racing, which evolved into Morpheus Racing towards the latter half of the season, for their two-car assault on the GTH (GT4) title. Stephen Walton and Chris joined forces to pilot the team’s #69 Mercedes MG GT4 while Jon Currie was partnered with ex-Lamborghini factory driver Phill Keen for the 22-race season. The GT Cup Championship season is demanding on teams, drivers and machinery. Spread over seven weekends with typically four races per weekend, the pressure is always on to make sure that cars are turned round quickly for the next race and that drivers are coached and prepared for their next challenge. After 26 races, Stephen and Chris secured the GTH title with 449 points, 39 points ahead of Jon and Phil. The success of the team was, in large part, due to the effort and investment they put into testing outside of the race weekends. With track time limited at the circuit due to the tight scheduling of GT Cup Championship weekends, the opportunity to work through issues on the cars and give each driver the opportunity to develop their skills without pressure meant that each race weekend was approached in a calm and planned manner. As a result, Stephen and Chris secured 12 class podiums during the season, including five GTH victories, while Jon and Phil stood on the podium on ten occasions and took two class wins. The key element in making the GT Cup Championship such a fantastic championship is the effective use of Balance of Performance, enabling older generation cars to compete against newer machinery with no fear that they will be outpaced just because they are not current generation. ‘Just turn up and have fun’ is the key message to anyone considering a GT Cup Championship campaign. JB Data Engineering was delighted to be have been part of Makehappen Racing / Morpheus Racing for the 2023 GT Cup Championship and would like to extend our most grateful thanks to Stephen, Chris, Jon and Phil for the invitation. We very much hope the team will be back on the grid in 2024 and that we can join them to defend their title. TCR UK JB Data Engineering provided a variety of services to the the TCR UK Touring Car Championship as well as across the paddock. We were delighted to be present at Brands Hatch for the season finale, providing data analysis support for Carl Boardley, Jenson Brickley and Matt Wilson as well as supporting teams throughout the paddock on what was a thrilling final weekend. TCR UK shared the weekend with the BRSCC Formula Ford Festival, a championship in which many professional race car drivers first cut their teeth. Scheduled in late October, the weather can often be unpredictable and so it was with torrential rain on the Saturday. Sunday, however, was fine and dry and with five drivers in contention for the TCR UK title led by Carl Boardley in the #41 CBM with Hart GT Cupra, track action was always going to be highly competitive. Jenson Brickley, at the wheel of #246 Cupra, took pole for the first of Sunday’s two contests, lapping the 1.9 kms of the Indy circuit in 48.283 seconds, just over a quarter of a second ahead of Callum Newsham. Alex Ley, sixth in the championship standings going into the final weekend, completed the top three. Brickley was unable to take his position at the front of the grid due to a mechanical problem so Callum Newsham led the field away with Carl Boardley in fourth. Boardley was passed but only needed to finish in the top six to take the title so drove a considered race as Chris Smiley and Alex Ley battled it out at the front. Smiley retired with a power steering issue and, as the chequered flag came out for Alex Ley, Boardley was in fourth and took sufficient points to ensure that the Ipswich-based businessman was crowned the TCR UK Touring Car Champion for 2023 Race Two saw some very unfortunate contact on the run down to Graham Bill Bend on the opening lap, resulting in a lengthy red flag period as cars were recovered. Thankfully nobody was injured but two slow formation laps before the restart meant that cold tyres caused more off-track moments and retirements. Jac Constable brought the #11 Rob Bostin Racing Gen II Audi RS3 home for the win, followed by Jenson Brickley in the #246 Cupra. Alex Ley completed the podium finishers. 2023 has seen the bar raised in TCR UK competition and the racing has been extraordinary. JB Data Engineering has been proud to have been involved in the championship and supporting this season’s champion Carl Boardley. We very much hope to return to the paddock next season. Fun Cup Endurance Championship We have been involved with the Fun Cup Endurance Championship for many seasons now and were delighted to be asked to work with Eddie Farrow’s EDF Motorsports for two rounds of the 2023 season, both at Oulton Park. EDF had three cars on the grid for the four-hour enduro in July with Simon Coles and Rob Croydon qualifying their #212 car the best of the trio. Coles and Croydon started 10th in the overall grid and fifth in the Masters category with Vlad Vassiliev and Matt Dorkings starting from 14th overall in the #246 car. Gary Summers and David Farrow, son of team owner Eddie, started the #104 car 16th on the 21-car grid. All three cars made it to the chequered flag with the #212the best of the EDF entries, Coles and Croydon coming home fifth overall and second in the Masters category. JB Data Engineering returned to work with EDF Motorsports for the Fun Cup Championship season finale at Oulton Park in October where the Lincolnshire-based team enjoyed mixed fortunes. Vassiliev and Dorkings brought the #246 car home in 12th place overall and 6th in the Masters category with the #104 and #212 cars finishing 10th and 11th in class in Race One. In Race Two, Simon and Rob finished 6th in class, one place ahead of Vlad and Matt. Fun Cup racing reminds us very much of racing in the European Le Mans Series where the four-hour race format allows for different strategies and anything can happen with safety cars. The fact that the cars are very close in performance, drivers vary in experience and championship entry is good value means that the racing is always hard-fought. Our collaboration with EDF Motorsports is more than just racing; it’s a testament to resilience and precision in the face of challenges. Navigating the demands of Fun Cup cars, we showcased not only the skill involved in data and video analysis but also the unwavering spirit of JB Data Engineering. As we reflect on the achievements of 2023, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to EDF Motorsports for the invitation to be part of their Fun Cup journey. The chequered flag may have fallen on 2023 but the thrill of the season is etched in our memories! British Endurance Championship Data scrutineering is probably one of the less visible roles over the course of race weekend but is vital if competitors are to have the confidence that the technical regulations are being applied correctly and fairly. JB Data Engineering was proud to have been invited to be part of the data scrutineering team for the 2023 British Endurance Championship and Britcar Trophy. The championship, coordinated by Claire Hedley and her team, is the perfect entry into GT and endurance racing for amateur drivers with its one-day, multi-class format. With BEC grids approaching 20 cars for most rounds and with six or more classes racing, the on-track action was always spectacular and every race weekend was great fun. Team Hard, with its Porsche 991 Cup entry, secured the overall British Endurance Championship title, finishing just four points ahead of the Venture Innovations Mercedes-AMG GT4 while Rhys Lloyd and Jack Meakin in the Dragon Sport Renault Clio secured the Britcar Trophy by less than 20 points from William Puttergill in the CH Racing Honda Civic Cup Type R. It was great to see how the competitors across both championships embraced the concept of data scrutineering. Our cloud-based solution allows for quick collection and review of data and the role is clearly seen as helping level the playing field and making sure that everyone can compete with confidence. The British Endurance Championship and the Britcar Trophy have played an important role in the growth of JB Data Engineering and we look forward to hopefully continuing that relationship for many years to come. Testing Testing is an important element of the work of a data engineer and we were delighted to be invited to join Nick Beaumont’s JWB Motorsport as the team tested its Porsche Cayman GT4 at Silverstone in June. We supplied data and system support which is always fun on a car as capable as the Cayman GT4. We also provided support to Revolution Race Cars at Zolder and Spa-Francorchamps in August when potential customers were invited to test the team’s lightweight 820kg sports prototype. Later in the season, Reflex Racing invited JB Data Engineering to be part of their team when they tested their Ligier JS2 R. Reflex was the first team to bring the Ligier JS2 R to the UK after it was launched in 2018 and the test at Snetterton was a great opportunity to understand this fantastic car, inspired by the 1972 JS2 which was described at the time as having the best power-to weight ratio of GT cars of that period. If JB Data Engineering can support you during your 2024 testing programmes, please call us to discuss how we can help. • NEWSLETTER - Key Tools: PMU-24 DL - Power Management Unit

Welcome to the November 2023 JB Data Engineering Newsletter. Welcome to the JB Data Engineering November newsletter. Can you believe that the UK racing season has almost finished? The last few weeks have flown by with October being a particularly busy month. JB Data Engineering supported teams in the TCR UK Touring Car Championship, the GT Cup Championship and the Fun Cup Endurance Championship as well as supporting the British Endurance Championship in our role as Data Scrutineer. Along with supporting our regular clients and supplying our extensive range of data and video analysis equipment, it made for a frantic few weeks! As always at this time of year, our focus turns eastwards towards the Asian Le Mans Series, the Gulf 12 Hours and Hankook 24H Dubai. If you need support in Asia over the winter, please do call us to check our availability. With many UK and european teams travelling out to Asia and the Middle East, there will be increased demand for data analysis and we would hate you to miss out for the sake of a phone call early this month. If we can help you in anyway, please contact us on +44 7717 562169 or by email. GT Cup Championship JB Data Engineering joined Morpheus Racing for the final weekend of the 2023 GT Cup Championship season at Snetterton and we were delighted to see the team finish first and second in the GTH (GT4) standings. With a typical GT Cup race weekend consisting of practice, qualifying and four races, every team member is under pressure across the two days and Snetterton was no exception. The #69 Mercedes AMG GG4 piloted by Stephen Walton and Chris Hart took two second-place finishes in class and a fifth to take the GTH title with a margin of 39 points over the sister #96 entry driven by Jon Currie and Phil Keen. Morpheus Racing’s success shows how effective a testing programme outside of the race weekend Friday sessions can be. All the Am drivers made great progress during the season, largely due to seat-time away from the pressure of preparing to race. JB Data Engineering Managing Director Jordan Bird was delighted to have been part of Morpheus Racing in 2023. “We would very much like thank Ben, Chris and Steve for the opportunity to work with the team this season,” said Jordan Bird. “It has been an absolute pleasure to work with each and every one of the team! To finish first and second in the GTH class goes to show the hard work that we all put in. I hope that JB Data Engineering can be part of the team that defends that title in 2024!” TCR UK Touring Car Championship JB Data Engineering was delighted to be present at Brands Hatch for the final weekend of the 2023 TCR UK Touring Car Championship, providing data analysis support for Carl Boardley, Jenson Brickley and Matt Wilson as well supporting teams throughout the paddock on what was a thrilling finale to a fantastic season. TCR UK shared the weekend with the BRSCC Formula Ford Festival, a championship in which many professional race car drivers first cut their teeth. JB Data Engineering has been proud to have been involved in the championship and supporting this season’s champion Carl Boardley. We very much hope to return to the paddock next season. Fun Cup Endurance Championship The Fun Cup Endurance Championship reached its season finale at Oulton Park for the final weekend of October. JB Data Engineering was back supporting EDF Motorsports with its three-car entry. Simon Coles and Robert Croydon piloted the #212 car while Vlad Vassiliev and Matt Dorkings shared the driving duties in the #246 entry. Victor Kara and Gary Summers completed the trio of entries in the #104 car. Although always busy, the grid was enhanced with the addition of two guest entries in the form of the #97 GT Radial entry which was crewed by four volunteer motorsport marshals. Two 19th-place finishes was a creditable result for a driver line-up who had only recently passed their ARDS tests. The second guest entry was the #99 JPR Young Guns driven by Luke Hilton, Gracie Mitchell and Jack Noller. Hilton has just completed a successful season in Fiesta Juniors this season, Noller has been competing in the MX5 Championship and Gracie Mitchell is proving a very competitive karter. EDF Motorsports had mixed fortunes over the two races. In Race One, Vlad Vassiliev and Matt Dorkings brought the #246 car home in 12th place overall and 6th in the Masters category, the #104 and #212 cars finishing 10th and 11th in class. In Race Two, Simon and Robert finished 6th in class, one place ahead of Vlad and Matt in the #246 entry. Despite the championship’s title, Fun Cup cars are not necessarily easy to drive so the results we came away from Oulton with were very creditable. Thank you to EDF Motorsports for inviting JB Data Engineering to be part of the team in 2023 and we very much hope to return in 2024. The marque has its own championship, the Ligier European Series, where JS2 Rs compete alongside Ligier JS P4s, the company’s easy-to-drive and accessible sports-prototype car. The Snetterton test was an excellent opportunity to work with Derek Holden’s team and get to grips with their Ligier JS2 R and we look forward to building on that relationship in the months ahead. British Endurance Championship JB Data Engineering was back in the British Endurance Championship and ROWE Britcar Trophy Championship paddock over the weekend of the 14th and 15th of October at Donington for the season finales of these two hugely popular GT championships. We were providing data scrutineering services with the early autumn weather presenting the predicted challenges of showers and bright, sunny conditions for the two grids, both of which were bolstered by a number of invitational entries. The #67 Team BRIT McLaren 570S driven by Paul Fullick and James Whitley took pole position for the British Endurance Championship two-hour contest but it was the #9 PB Racing Audi GT3 of Peter Erceg and Marcus Clutton who took the race victory, followed by Ameeth Naran and Sam Cooper in the i#108 Breakell Racing McLaren. Mike McCollum and Sean Cooper in the #62 KTM GT4 completed the overall podium positions. Brad Thurston and Daryl Deleon’s 10th place finish in the ##28 Team HARD Porsche 991 Cup entry was sufficient to give them the overall championship, just four points clear of Neville Jones, Chris Jones and Matt George in the #21 Venture Innovations GT4. The two ROWE Britcar Trophy Champion ship races saw victories go to Marco Anastaasi in the #4 Datum Motorsport Ginetta in race one and the invitational #40 Intersport BMW M3 E46 driven by Bryan Bramson and Jas Sapra in race two. Rhys Lloyd and Jack Meakin, drivers of the #66 Dragon Sport Renault Clio Cup car secured the title by a margin of 16 points ahead of William Puttergill’s CH Racing Honda Civic Type R. JB Data Engineering was honoured to supply data scrutineering services to Claire Headley’s Britcar team, ensuring that competitors could compete confident that the technical regulations were being applied fairly and consistently across the large grids. We very much hope we can join the Championship again in 2024. • NEWSLETTER - Key Tools: VBOX Video HD2 - HDMI

Welcome to the October 2023 JB Data Engineering Newsletter. Hello and welcome to the JB Data Engineering October newsletter! After a busy September, most domestic and european championships are now heading towards their season finales and attention is quickly turning to racing in Asia and the Middle East over the coming weeks. If you or your team are looking to test ahead of shipping your cars overseas and would benefit from additional data support, please contact us and see how we can help. We can travel globally and we also offer remote support services so wherever you are, and at whatever time, you can always contact us and we’d be delighted to help. Please be aware that we have very few dates available now for 2023 so if we can help you in anyway, please contact us on +44 7717 562169 or by email. TCR UK Touring Car Championship JB Data Engineering enjoyed an exciting weekend at Donington on September the 9th and 10th, supporting clients throughout the TCR UK Touring Car Championship grid. Jenson Brickley in the #246 Cupra Leon Competicion TCR took pole position in Saturday’s 30-minute qualifying session with Adam Shepherd joining Brickley on the front row of the1-car grid. Shepherd took victory in race one after Brickley was ordered to swap positions with the #117 driver after confusion when the safety car boards were shown early in the race. Completing the podium positions was Jac Constable in the #11 Rob Boston Racing Audi RS3 Gen II. Heavy rain marred the afternoon’s racing but was starting to ease by the time the TCR UK pack went to the grid for their second race of the weekend. Tyre choices were crucial on a track that was expected to dry quickly in the warm temperatures. Brad Hutchison, starting from the second row, appeared to have the better traction over the opening laps and passed pole-sitter Sumpton. The #17 Cupra Leon driver never looked troubled and even as conditions improved in the second half of the race, Hutchison never looked at risk of missing out on his maiden victory. Post-race checks, however, revealed a ride-height discrepancy and both Hutchison and Restart Racing’s Smiley were excluded from the result, promoting Alistair Camp to the top step of the podium. The TCR UK Touring Car Championship now moves to its season finale at Brands Hatch on October the 21st and 22nd and JB Data Engineering is looking forward to being back in the paddock, supporting race teams to be at their most competitive at the iconic Indy circuit. Ligier JS2 R Testing with Reflex Racing JB Data Engineering opened the month with a test at Snetterton with Reflex Racing and their Ligier JS2 R. Reflex Racing was the first team to bring the Ligier JS2 R into the UK after it was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 2018. The JS2 R is inspired by the 1972 Ligier JS2, a car which was described at the time as having superior driving dynamics and the best power-to-weight ratio of GT cars of that period. The current Ligier JS2 R is powered by a 3.7 L Ford Duratec V6 engine, coupled to a 6-speed sequential manual transmission with pneumatic shift mechanism and paddle shifters. The JS2 R provided the basis for a hydrogen powered car which was unveiled at Le Mans this year. British Endurance Championship JB Data Engineering returned to its data scrutineering role when the British Endurance Championship and the ROWE Britcar Trophy Championship visited Snetterton on September the 16th and 17th. We really enjoy these weekends as the racing is always ultra-competitive, given the British Endurance Championship’s innovative approach to Balance of Performance. Peter Erceg and Marcus Clutton, drivers of the #9 PB Racing Audi R8 GT3, took victory in the two-hour British Endurance Championship contest, the #9 car finishing a lap ahead of the #62 Track Focused KTM GT4 of Mike McCollum and Sean Cooper. Completing the podium finishers was the #21 Venture Innovations Mercedes GT4 of Chris Jones and Matt George. Simon Clark in the #23 Form Evo Clark Racing Porsche 997 Carrera S and Len Goldsmith in the #10 Geoff Steel Racing BMW M3 E90 took home the winners trophies in the ROWE Britcar Trophy Championship in what was another excellent weekend of racing in Norfolk. We look forward to rejoining the Championship when it visits Donington Park for its season finale in mid-October. VBOX Video HD2-HDMI After challenges with component obsolescence and supply chain delays, VBOX has announced that their market-leading VBOX Video HD2 system will be available for sale from Monday the 2nd of October. As a result, JB Data Engineering is pleased, once again, to be able to offer this popular system, available for immediate delivery. The VBOX HD2 Track Package includes roll cage camera mounts and an un-terminated power cable instead of the standard suction camera mounts and cigar lighter power cable. This means easier fitment to vehicles fully prepared for racing. VBOX Video HD2 features an HDMI video output, 1080p video, real-time synchronised video/data with graphical overlay, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The internal 10 Hz GPS engine recognises the race track you are driving and automatically configures the track map and buffering. Automatic recording, a pre-record buffer and internal power back-up ensures that you capture absolutely all of the race action. JB Data Engineering can not only supply the VBOX Video HD2 , we can also install the system and provide training to you and your engineers. Click here to see the packages on offer and place your order. Planning for 2024 Many national and European series are now fast approaching their final rounds. The JB Data Engineering team is now firmly focused on post-season work and preparing for what promises to be an incredible year for prototype and GT racing around the world in 2024. The Asian Le Mans Series gets underway at Sepang International Circuit on the 2nd of December and JB Data Engineering is planning to be there. With the popularity of racing in Asia and the Middle East at an all-time high, the competition will be as fierce as ever so if you want to have that extra competitive edge on the pit-wall, call JB Data Engineering and let’s discuss how we can help you achieve your racing goals. Please contact us on +44 7717 562169 or by email. Wherever and whatever you’re racing in October, we hope you have a fantastic month and we look forward to meeting you at a circuit in the near future. All the best, JB Data Engineering Have a great October! The JB Data Engineering Team.

Sadly, the summer is drawing to a close, the Goodwood Revival is just days away and many national championships are getting close to that critical season finale. We had a busy month in August but are now firmly in planning mode for the winter, supporting customers competing in the Asian Le Mans Series and, of course, looking ahead to 2024! Not all our support work is carried out track-side, however, and you can read about our remote services below. Please be aware that we have very few dates available now for 2023 so if we can help you in anyway, please contact us on +44 7717 562169 or by email. TCR UK Touring Car Championship JB Data Engineering was at Silverstone for rounds 10 and 11 of the TCR UK Touring Car Championship, supporting customers across the grid in one of the most competitive and popular UK race series. 21 cars were on the grid at the Silverstone National circuit with Adam Shepherd putting the #117 Area Motorsport Hyundai i30 N TCR on pole for the first of two 25-minute contests. Given that Shepherd was carrying 30kg of compensation weight and had barely had any time on-track during the practice session, it was an achievement to lap .022s quicker than his teammate Bruce Winfield in the #37 Hyundai. The pole-sitter did not have the best of luck in the first race of the weekend as an alternator bearing failure forced the #117 driver into retirement, followed by Bruce Winfield with an upright failure. Carl Boardley in the #41 CBM with Hart GT Cupra took the win in Round 10, followed by Jenson Brickley in the #246 Cupra. Joe Marshall completed the podium positions. Round 11 saw the red flag brought out after a first lap accident which resulted in Chris Smiley making contact with the barrier. Two laps behind the safety car was followed by a stoppage to allow for safe repair of the track-side damage. The race was shortened to 15 minutes at the re-start with a shuffled grid and it was Alex Ley in the #76 Hyundai who went on to take his second consecutive reverse-grid win, followed by Matthew Wilson in #31 JWB Motorsport Cupra, Bruce Winfield rounding out the podium positions. It was another fantastic weekend’s racing with the TCR UK Touring Car Championship with Carl Boardley now holding a commanding 45-point championship lead over Bruce Winfield. JB Data Engineering looks forward to meeting up again with the TCR UK paddock at Donington Park this coming weekend. Revolution Race Cars Early in August, JB Data Engineering was delighted to be asked to provide customer support for Revolution Race Cars at Zolder and Spa-Francorchamps. The company, founded by Phil Abbott, had invited potential customers for their lightweight 820kg sportscar to experience the vehicle at two of the most iconic circuits in Europe and drivers from across the globe enjoyed getting up to speed in one of the world’s most exciting new sports prototypes. The Revolution is designed to provide a fun, exciting and competitive on-track experience, whether the driver is looking for track day excitement or beginning their journey towards competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car is easy to maintain, cost-effective in use and has accessible handling and performance. The Revolution is eligible for many prototype race series and Revolutions are currently competing in the Formula Prototype Challenge Canada and the Sports Prototype Cup North America. Both events were a great success and JB Data Engineering was proud to have played a part in helping more new drivers enjoy the Revolution Race Car experience. RaceSense Digital Tyre Pressure Gauges We are pleased to be distributors for the complete range of RaceSense tyre pressure gauges. Built with the demands of motorsports in mind, the RaceSense Digital Tyre Pressure Gauge with Pyrometer is designed to save time in the pits and on the track. It has an automatic mode that will record initial pressures and also the adjusted pressures and is designed for maximum precision. After tyre pressures have been measured, the data is saved automatically, ready for export if required. The RaceSense Digital Tyre Pressure Gauge with Pyrometer uses NFC (Near Field Communication) technology that allows you to transfer all your captured data to your phone in less than a second (NFC-enabled phone required) and allows you to keep your tyre pressures a secret from competitors. You just input your desired pressures beforehand and the gauge will show an offset from these values instead of the actual pressures on the screen. Simply adjust your tyre pressures until you reach zero and no one will ever know what pressures you are running. Call JB Data Engineering now to hear about the complete range of RaceSense Digital Tyre Pressure Gauges or click here to order. Contact us on 07717 562169 to discuss how we can support your racing goals. There’s more to JB Data Engineering than track-side support… You may think that much of our work is at the circuit, working with teams and drivers to capture and understand video and data and it is true that we do spend a lot of time in paddocks and garages doing just that. But there is a lot more to JB Data Engineering that you may not be aware of. Working remotely and supporting drivers across the UK and internationally is now an important part of the range of services we provide. What many competitors don’t realise is that the latest in video or data acquisition tech isn’t always necessary in order to benefit from our services. It can be as simple as sending us your video and some basic data and we can review it with you, suggesting some easy gains and providing a feedback sheet. You can talk us through the areas that you are struggling with and we can make provide guidance that may lead to some quick wins. If you’re struggling at a circuit with a data issue, call JB Data Engineering. We may not be physically present but we can talk you through various solutions and help you out of that tight spot when manufacturer support may not be available. There are many ways that JB Data Engineering can help you to be more competitive and it doesn’t necessarily mean we have to be in the garage with you. If you have a problem with data analysis or video acquisition, call us on +44 7717 562169, wherever you are and at whatever time. We’re just a phone call away and we’re here to help! Wherever you’re racing in September, we wish you the best of luck and let’s hope we can benefit from some late summer sun for these final weeks of the domestic season. We look forward to meeting you in a paddock somewhere over the next few weeks. Have a great 2023! The JB Data Engineering Team.

  • NEWSLETTER - Key Tools: SmartyCam 3 Dual

Welcome to the August edition of the JB Data Engineering newsletter. We enjoyed another busy month in July across the UK where the weather displayed a marked turn from the blisteringly hot days in late June and earlier in the month. Torrential rain and challenging racing conditions became the norm, offering a total contrast to the heatwave we were experiencing in the UK just 12 months ago! You can read how the rain affected events, particularly the GT Cup Championship at Silverstone, later in the newsletter. Please be aware that we have very few dates available now for 2023 (we’ve listed available dates below) so if we can help you in any way, please contact us on +44 7717 562169 or by email. GT Cup Championship JB Data Engineering supported teams in the GT Cup Championship over two weekends in July. Both events were affected by the changeable weather conditions but the quality of racing in what has become one of the leading GT championships in the UK remained high. For the first weekend of July, we were at Oulton Park for the one-day MSVR Supercar Pageant which saw the GT Cup Championship on the same bill as the Focus Cup, the Boxster Cup and the Porsche 911 Challenge. 14 cars contested the two GT Cup races. Race One was red-flagged after two laps following an accident with the overall win going to the #32 Cook Racing Audi R8 GT3 EVO 2 driven by Sacha Kakad and Hugo Cook, followed by the #67 Orange Racing powered by JMH McLaren720S GT3 of Simon Orange and Tom Roche. Race Two was also shortened to 30 minutes with Simon Orange in the #67 McLaren taking the lead at the end of the opening lap. The #67 car stayed at the front of the field and Orange’s teammate Tom Roche brought the McLaren home for the duo’s third victory of the season. The final weekend in July saw the championship return to Silverstone for its traditional four-race format. 22 cars were entered for the event with a weather forecast that was predicting mixed conditions across the two days. Saturday’s two races saw the fourth overall win of the season for Simon Orange and Tom Roche in the pit-stop race while the #32 Cook Racing Audi won the sprint race ahead of the #76 McLaren. It was Sunday’s conditions, however, that really tested both drivers and engineers with the pit-stop race starting behind the safety car for three laps before Andrey Borodin led the field away on the Greystone McLaren. However it was the #32 Audi in the hands of Hugo Cook that took the second win of the weekend for the Cook Racing squad with Tom Roche coming home in second, at the wheel of the #67 McLaren. Sunday’s conditions were some of the worst that JB Data Engineering has ever encountered in over seven years of providing data analysis and support. We look forward to returning to the championship in September when the GT Cup grid meets for its penultimate race weekend of the 2023 season at Donington Park. TCR UK Touring Car Championship JB Data Engineering travelled to Scotland to provide data and video analysis services to teams competing in the TCR UK Touring Car Championship when the series visited Knockhill on the 22nd and 23rd of July. Carl Boardley dominated the weekend at the wheel of the CBM with Hart GT Cupra Leon Competition TCR, with the Suffolk-based driver qualifying the #41 car on pole for Race One and going on to take two out of three race wins. Qualifying saw every driver have at least one lap-time deleted for exceeding track limits as but it was Boardley who put in a 51.457 around the 1.27 miles of the undulating Knockhill circuit to head the qualifying timing screens by just .109s ahead of Jac Constable in the #11 Cupra. Boardley went on to convert that pole position into a victory in Race One but was served a penalty for a track limits infringement in Race Two and went on to finish fourth. The #41 driver returned to the top step of the podium for the final race. Carl Boardley now leads the TCR UK Touring Car Championship by 25 points ahead of Bruce Winfield and, with less than half the season remaining, looks a strong contender for the 2023 title. We had a great time in the TCR UK paddock at Knockhill and look forward to meeting up again with our clients at Silverstone on the 19th of August. Fun Cup Endurance Championship We were delighted to be back working with EDF Motorsports for Round Five of the Fun Cup Endurance Championship when the series visited Oulton Park in the middle of July. EDF Motorsports had three cars on the grid for the four-hour enduro with Simon Coles and Rob Croydon qualifying their #212 car best of the trio. Coles and Croydon started 10th on the overall grid and fifth in the Masters category with Vlad Vassiliev and Matt Dorkings starting from 14th overall in the #246 car. Gary Summers and David Farrow, son of team owner Eddie Farrow started the #104 car 16th on the 21-car grid. All three cars made it to the chequered flag with the #212 car the best of the EDF entries, Coles and Croydon coming home fifth overall and second in the Masters category. Fun Cup racing, as the name implies, is a great series to be involved in with the regulations designed to ensure cost effective, close, exciting and, above all, fun racing. JB Data Engineering is proud to be along-standing partner of EDF Motorsports and we look forward to returning to the Fun Cup at Silverstone later in August. Dates Available With the summer passing quickly, we now have a very few dates available for the remainder of the UK season to support teams and drivers trackside before attention switches to Asia and the start of the Asian Le Mans Series. • NEWSLETTER - Key Tools: VBOX HD Lite

Welcome to the July 2023 JB Data Engineering newsletter. We’ve experienced some staggeringly hot days at the circuits over the past few weeks but sadly it doesn’t look like we’ll be replicating last year’s July temperatures over the next few days. It does make for some interesting choices on tyres, though! June was a very busy month for us as we combined data scrutineering duties with support for teams and drivers across the UK in various championships. If you have any testing planned over the next few weeks and believe you could benefit from the support of JB Data Engineering, please contact us on +44 7717 562169 or by email. We can travel anywhere nationally or internationally so, with just a few spots available until mid-September, please let us know how we can help. GT Cup at Snetterton JB Data Engineering enjoyed another fantastic weekend at a sweltering Snetterton when Makehappen Racing returned to Norfolk with its two GTH-class Mercedes AMG GT4s for the third round of the 2023 GT Cup Championship. Stephen Walton and Chris Hart piloted the #96 entry while the sister car saw Jon Currie partnered with Phil Keen for four contests on the 3-mile Snetterton 300 circuit. Leeds-based Makehappen Racing dominated the GTH (GT4) class and the two cars took seven out of the eight possible class podium finishes between them. Chris Hart and Stephen Walton, Executive Chairman and Operations Director respectively at ultrafast broadband connectivity company Makehappen, took the class win in Race One while teammates Jon Currie and Phil Keen stood on the top step of the GTH podium in races three and four. From our perspective, the highlight of the weekend was seeing the progress of Jon Currie as a driver. Being awarded Driver of the Day on the Sunday was a fitting reward for all the hard work that Jon has put in to become a class-winner. JB Data Engineering is looking forward to rejoining Makehappen Racing for two further GT Cup rounds in July when the series visits Oulton Park and Silverstone. TCR UK Touring Car Championship JB Data Engineering was working with a number of teams when the 2023 TCR UK Touring Car Championship visited Oulton Park on the weekend of June 10th and 11th. TCR UK is fast becoming one of the UK’s most popular race series and it was great to see Bruce Winfield take his second victory of the season in the #37 Area Motorsport Hyundai in Round 5. There was a close battle for second place with Jac Constable passing Alex Ley in the closing seconds of the 16-lap contest. Carl Boardley, at the wheel of the #41 CBM with Hart GT Cupra Leon, converted pole position on the reversed grid into the race lead and, ultimately, the win in round six. Boardley, who switched to TCR UK in 2023 after five years competing in the BTCC, was also awarded the Goodyear Diamond Award for drivers over 40 for both of his races. JB Data Engineering is proud to continue its association with the TCR UK Touring Car Championship and looks forward to continuing to provide data analysis services to teams up and down the TCR UK paddock as the 2023 season progresses. Ginetta GT Academy The third weekend of June saw JB Data Engineering back at our ‘home’ circuit of Snetterton supporting Alastair Rushforth Motorsport and Phil McGarty, driver of the team’s #81 car, in rounds 15, 16 and 17 of the Ginetta GT Academy series. This championship is designed to allow drivers at the beginning of their GT racing careers, as well as drivers with some experience, to enjoy close, competitive racing in safe, reliable race cars. Phil McGarty has been competing in Ginettas since he began racing in 2016. Phil qualified 12th overall and finished all three 20-minute contests with a 6th and two 5th-place finishes in class. Phil also put in his fastest lap in Race Three. JB Data Engineering enjoys supporting drivers competing all levels in the sport, from domestic one-make series through to international championships. In addition to our core data engineering services, we can also provide video analysis, race and fuel strategies and human performance engineering. Contact us on 07717 562169 to discuss how we can support your racing goals. British Endurance Championship JB Data Engineering resumed data scrutineering duties at Silverstone over the weekend of June 24th and 25th for Round Four of the British Endurance Championship and the Britcar Trophy. Grids were busy as usual for this popular championship and it was great to be able to assure all the teams and competitors that, through data scrutineering, technical regulations were being applied fairly and consistently. The two-hour British Endurance Championship contest was won by the #9 PB Racing Audi R8 GT3 driven by Peter Erceg and Marcus Clutton with the #63 Scott Sport Lamborghini Super Trofeo piloted by Mikkel Mac and Keith Frieser finishing in second, two laps back. The Team Hard Porsche 991 Cup car completed the podium positions, Brad Thurston and Daryl Deleon finishing nearly 24 seconds back from the #63 car. Victory in the ROWE Britcar Trophy race went to Axel Van Nederveen in his Ginetta. Data Scrutineering for the British Endurance Championship is always a pleasure and we look forward to rejoining the series when it visits Snetterton in September. • NEWSLETTER - Key Tools: SmartyCam 3 GP Camera

Welcome to the June 2023 JB Data Engineering newsletter. What a difference a few weeks makes! A month ago it was cold, wintry and thoroughly un-springlike. Now, the sun is shining, the season is well underway and within a few days we will be past the longest day and looking at summer holidays! We have been busy, as always, and working with both young drivers at the start of their careers and some of the most experienced GT and TCR drivers competing in the UK today. As ever, we’re always keen to work with new clients so if you require any data engineering or analysis support, please email jordan@jbdataengineering.co.uk to discuss how we can assist. TCR UK Touring Car Championship The first weekend of May was spent at a sunny Croft, enjoying the first proper warm weather we’d experienced after our cold spring, supporting the TCR UK Touring Car Championship. JB Data Engineering was present in its Data Scrutineering role as the championship made its return to the North Yorkshire circuit for the first time in four years. Rounds 3 and 4 of the TCR UK Touring Car Championship saw two 25-minute contests for the 20-car grid and, as ever, the racing was close and competitive. Carl Broadley passed pole-sitter Jac Constable for the lead at the start of Race One and took the chequered flag for the on-track victory before being penalised for a track limits violation. This gave Jac Constable his first victory of the year and the inaugural victory for the new #11 Rob Boston Racing Audi RS3LMS TCR Gen2. Jenson Brickley, driving the #246 Cupra Leon Competicion TCR, won Race Two with Adam Shepherd, at the wheel of the #117 Area Motorsport Hyundai i30 N TCR, coming home in second. Adam’s result showed the effectiveness of the BoP regulations in the TCR UK Championship and it was great to see that an older generation car could still be competitive in what is now fast becoming one of the most exciting race series in the UK. Shepherd’s result means that the four-time champion (over multiple series) moves into a qualifying position for the TCR World Ranking Final, after climbing 31 positions to 47th overall. Fantastic weather, great crowds, a packed grid and close racing meant that JB Data Engineering had a very enjoyable visit to Croft and we look forward to working with the TCR UK Touring Championship as the championship visits Oulton Park in June. Mini Challenge Trophy JB Data Engineering supported Ashley Gregory with data analysis in the Mini Challenge Trophy round at Snetterton which was racing over the weekend of May 13th and 14th, JB Data Engineering being present on the Saturday. Ashley is an exciting young racer who began her driving career at just 10 years old in Junior Ministox and graduated to the Junior Saloon Car Championship in 2019. 2023 is Ashley’s first season competing in the Mini Challenge Trophy. Ashley qualified 13th out of the 29-car grid for round four of the Mini Challenge Trophy but contact on the opening lap resulted in a DNF for the opening race on Saturday. Although we were not present for Sunday’s racing, we were delighted to see that Ashley made up 13 places on her grid position in race three to finish 13th overall and 6th in the Rookie Cup class. After Snetterton, Ashley now lies 6th in the Rookie Cup standings and, with the majority of the season ahead of her, we are looking forward to seeing some fantastic results from this young Lancashire driver who certainly has a very bright future ahead of her. Silverstone GT4 Testing Outside of race weekends, JB Data Engineering supported Nick Beaumont’s JWB Motorsport as the team tested its Porsche Cayman GT4 at Silverstone. We were working on data and system support which is always fun on a car as capable as the Cayman GT4. If you are looking for a highly experienced data engineer for your testing sessions, both in the UK and overseas, then contact JB Data Engineering at jordan@jbdataengineering.com. British Endurance Championship It was a return to GT racing for the final weekend of May as JB Data Engineering worked in its Data Scrutineering role for the British Endurance Championship and the ROWE Britcar Trophy. Oulton Park saw another fantastic weekend of racing with a 15-car grid for the British Endurance Championship and 21 cars battling it out in the ROWE Britcar Trophy Championship. We witnessed a superb mixture of machinery on-track for the BEC with the likes of Audi R8s, Mercedes GT4s, McLaren 570s GT4s and the Aston Martin Vulcan of Venture Innovations’ Glebs Stepanovs and Stephen Tomkins making for some great racing. In the ROWE Britcar Trophy Championship, the Datum Motorsport duo of Maurizio Sciglio and Marco Anastasi finished 1-2 in both 50-minute races while PB Racing’s Peter Erceg and Andrew Bentley stood on the top step of the podium in the British Endurance Championship contest. Data scrutineering assures all competitors that technical regulations are being applied fairly and evenly and this has helped make the BEC and the ROWE Britcar Trophy two of the most popular racing series in the UK today. JB Data Engineering is proud to be part of the technical team at race weekends and we look forward to continuing to support these series’ in the months ahead. Racing Driver Video Analysis One of the key tools of the competitive racing driver is video analysis, and JB Data Engineering has been helping teams and driver with this key skill for many years. Video analysis helps drivers in understanding visually where they could improve their lap-times. It is particularly useful where an amateur driver is working with a driver-coach, who is then able to identify where improvements in times can be made. JB Data Engineering recommends Racelogic’s Circuit Tools data analysis software and Aim’s Smartycam video software which provide the provide the capability to run multiple laps side-by-side. This facility allows the driver to see the vehicle data alongside video of the lap. Using GPS to plot the driver’s lines, a coach can quickly understand and explain where the lap-time can be improved. Contact JB Data Engineering to discuss how our video analysis tools will help your driver find those essential tenths over a race weekend. Race and Fuel Strategy Race and fuel strategies are a crucial planning particularly when competing in endurance events. JB Date Engineering can provide race and fuel strategies and, with our years of experience working with leading teams, planning time is reduced, allowing more opportunity for discussion and refinement. Our race/fuel strategies include run-plans for each session with fuel usage per lap and per session and have been used in the 24H Series, the British GT Championship and the VW Fun Cup 25 Hour Race at Spa-Francorchamps. If you’d like to discuss how we can help you with race and fuel strategies, call us on 07717 562169. SmartyCam 3 Dual – One is great. Dual is better! • NEWSLETTER - Supporting Teams & Championships Nationwide

Welcome to the May 2023 JB Data Engineering newsletter. The racing season is well and truly underway and JB Data Engineering has been very busy over the past four weeks, supporting teams and championships across the country. We’ve included some highlights below, but it was great to be working with the TCR UK Touring Car Championship and the British Endurance Championship and experiencing first-hand the the passion for racing and the enthusiasm across all the teams and competitors in those series. EDF Motorsports had three cars entered for the four-hour race at Brands Hatch on April 15th and 16th. With two entries in the Masters Championship, the #212 car driven by Simon Coles and Nick Cassidy and the #104 car piloted by Gary Summers and Victor Kara, along with the #246 entry driven by Vlad Vassilev and Matt Dorkings, we had our work cut out! After four hours of close, competitive racing in changeable conditions, Simon and Nick finished 6th in their class with Gary and Victor finishing 10th. Vlad and Matt enjoyed a solid weekend, finishing 8th overall and 4th in their class. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and look forward to more exciting Fun Cup action in the months ahead. GT Cup Flexibility and speed are key attributes of the service provided by JB Data Engineering, so we were delighted to step in at the last minute to provide data analysis support for Chris Hart’s Makehappen Racing at the start of its 2023 GT Cup campaign at Donington Park. Chris Hart and Operations Director Stephen Walton piloted the team’s #69 car while Jon Currie was joined by the highly experienced Phil Keen in the #96 entry. With four races spread over the weekend, GT Cup rounds are very demanding and we were delighted when Chris Hart and Stephen Walton took the GTH class victory in the opening contest. Following their win with a further podium and two seventh-in-class finishes meant that the #69 duo left Donington standing second in the GTH standings. Currie and Keen enjoyed a successful weekend with a podium finish in Race Two and lay fifth in the GTH standings. JB Data Engineering was back with Makehappen Racing at the end of the month for the second GT Cup weekend of the season, this time on the Brands Hatch GP circuit. It was another solid weekend for the squad, tarnished only by disqualifications for a number of entrants due to technical infringements in the fourth race. With eight races completed, Stephen and Chris lie third in the GTH (GT4) standings while Jon and Phil are two places back in fifth. TCR UK Touring Car Championship JB Data Engineering is delighted to be providing data analysis to Makehappen Racing for the 2023 season and we look forward to many more successful weekends as the season progresses. JB Data Engineering worked with the TCR UK Touring Car Championship in a Data Scrutineering role for the opening rounds of the 2023 championship at Snetterton on April the 8th and 9th. 24 cars were on the grid for rounds 1 & 2 of the 14-round championship which will visit iconic UK circuits such as Oulton Park, Silverstone, Donington and Brands Hatch. The racing was as competitive as ever and the feedback from the series organisers was very positive. The weather, which turned from cold and wet to dry and reasonably warm, helped set the atmosphere for a packed weekend of competition. New for the 2023 season is the introduction of the TCR World Ranking where drivers score points via a dedicated season which, at the end of the year, which will see the top 45 drivers in the TCR World Ranking join the top 15 drivers who have completed the TCR World Tour. All 60 drivers will compete in the TCR World Ranking Final. British Endurance Championship & Britcar Trophy Building on our data scrutineering work, JB Data Engineering was delighted to work with the British Endurance Championship and the BritcarTrophy at Brands Hatch during April. Supporting championships in this manner means that competitors can be assured that the technical regulations are being applied fairly and consistently. JB Data Engineering is very much looking forward to working with the TCR UK Touring Car Championship and the British Endurance Championship as the year progresses. Cambridge United Women JB Data Engineering was the proud match sponsor for Cambridge United Women when they met London Seaward FC in the FA Women’s National League at The Abbey Stadium on April 2nd. We were also the sponsor of seven players in the Cambridge United Women’s squad, including Sarah Wiltshire who is the 4th highest goal scorer in the National League. The team took a hard fought 2-2 draw with goals from Hayley Simpson and Sarah Wiltshire. We were delighted to be developing our sporting connections with our involvement in football and we look forward to building on our relationship with the Cambridge United Women’s team in the 2023/24 season. With our experience in providing quick and accurate data analysis across many different championships and series, we were able to report back to the race organisers in a timely manner, giving all competitors confidence that the Balance of Performance rules were being correctly enforced. JB Data Engineering would like to thank Claire Hedley and her team at Britcar for their continued confidence in our services and we very much look forward to working with them throughout 2023. • NEWSLETTER - Key Tools: VBOX MINI OLED

Welcome to the March 2023 JB Data Engineering newsletter. The excitement is building for the start of the new season and the daily emails we’re receiving announcing packed grids for championships both domestic and international is evidence that this year will be busy, highly competitive and a huge amount of fun. JB Data Engineering is in the final stages of confirming its plans for this year but we may still have the resources to support your racing ambitions in 2023 if you're quick! Read below for just some of the aspects we can help you with to reduce your lap times and improve your race strategies and performance. TCR UK Touring Car Car Championship Pre-Season Test Day JB Data Engineering was present at the TCR UK Touring Car Championship Pre-Season test day at Snetterton on Friday February the 24th. After a cautious start in 2018, the TCR UK Touring Car Championship has enjoyed huge growth over the past two seasons with at least 20 cars appearing on the grid for every round in 2022, with some rounds seeing grids of 25 entries. The pre-season Test Day at Snetterton saw 12 cars out on track, getting some early miles in on the Snetterton 300 2.97 mile circuit. Bruce Winfield, who finished third in the 2022 standings, was back in his Area Motorsport Hyundai i30 N TCR, lapping in 1:59.115 in the morning session which put the #37 car sixth quickest over the course of the day. It was great to see Jac Constable, returning for his third season in the championship, topping the timing screens in his latest generation Audi RS3 LMS TCR Gen II. Jac finished fifth in the standings in 2022 and has joined Rob Boston for the new season after a deal was agreed at Autosport in January. The new Audi RS3 looks fast and, combined with Audi’s legendary reliability, should make Jac one of the names to watch in 2023. JB Data Engineering was on hand to provide data collection and analysis support to all the teams present and to liaise with the series organisers following our support for the Data Scrutineering Team in 2022. With seven rounds visiting some of the most iconic circuits in the UK such as Snetterton, Oulton Park, Silverstone and Brands Hatch, the TCR UK championship is the perfect feeder series for drivers looking to make the step up to the BTCC and judging by the lap-times set at the Test Day, 2023 should be another highly competitive season.
