Welcome to the January 2025 JB Data Engineering Newsletter.
Welcome to the JB Data Engineering January 2025 newsletter!
We hope you all enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing Christmas break and we wish you a healthy and prosperous 2025 (and, of course, great success on-track!)
At JB Data Engineering HQ, we’ve been hard at work preparing for the forthcoming season and the team can’t wait to be back at a circuit in preparation for what promises to be a fantastic year of motorsport.
The traditional start to the year for JBDE is our annual visit to the Birmingham NEC for Autosport International (ASI) 2025. For our international subscribers, ASI is a four-day motorsport event held at one of the largest exhibition spaces in the UK and includes a two-day trade show for industry professionals and a two-day public show. ASI is a magnet for thousands of fans, automotive enthusiasts and fellow professionals in the industry and offers businesses like ours the perfect opportunity to network and present our services.

We will be at the show on Thursday and Friday (January the 9th and 10th) and would love to meet with you to discuss how we can support your racing ambitions in 2025.
Please call us on (44) 7717 562169 or email jordan@jbdataengineering.co.uk to arrange a time when we can get together. We very much look forward to meeting old friends and new at the Birmingham NEC next week to launch the new motorsport season in style!
Preparing for the New Season
Are you planning your car preparations for the new season? Do you have your first test sessions planned and in the diary? With video and data playing an increasingly important role, even in club motorsport, making sure you have the correct tools to go racing is essential to on-track success. Here are five tips from JB Data Engineering to ensure your data and video equipment is ready for 2025.
1) Review any issues and niggles from last season and resolve them
Was a sensor playing up? Were there any problems with data acquisition that caused problems in 2024? Is everything working as it should? If not, get those niggles and problems resolved before you head out to a track for testing. JB Data Engineering can assist with advice, repairs, recalibration and re-sets across a wide range of equipment and manufacturers.

2) Get your data and video equipment serviced where possible
Accidents may have dislodged components and internal wiring while oil, water and dirt inside the unit can all cause loose connections and problems. Just as you would service your road car annually, the same logic applies to your on-board data and video equipment. Contact JB Data Engineering to discuss how we can help or contact the manufacturer who will be able to arrange a service.
3) Update your firmware
Manufacturers regularly publish firmware updates and during a busy season, it’s easy to miss them. We can guide you if you need assistance or a visit to the manufacturer’s website should give you the information you need.

4) Thinking of investing in a video and data acquisition system for the first time?
Before you click on the ‘Buy Now’ button and potentially make an expensive mistake, contact JB Data Engineering. We have ten years experience in advising clients on systems and set-up and we can help you make sure that what you’re buying is going to deliver what you need. If it doesn’t, we can provide alternative solutions.
5) Were there any areas in your driving last season that you’d like to improve on?
A call to JB Data Engineering could assist in deciding what data you need to be reviewing to make you quicker. Trouble getting the brakes up to temperature? How about fitting a brake sensor to review how you’re braking. If you’re not sure when to get on the throttle, a throttle position sensor overlaying data on a video could be the answer. JB Data Engineering can supply and install equipment from the world’s leading motorsport data acquisition suppliers as well as train you to get the best out of your investment.
If you’re attending Autosport International this weekend, we look forward to seeing you there. If you’re making plans for your first test session of 2025, we hope our paths cross in the paddock soon.
Our diary is filling up fast for 2025 so please call us on (44) 7717 562169 or email jordan@jbdataengineering.co.uk so that we can discuss how we can support you to achieve your racing goals this year.
Best Wishes,
Jordan
