Are Your Leaving Time On The Track By Not Regularly Checking Your Tyre Temps and Pressures?? - April 2025 Newsletter

Updated: Apr 8

Welcome to the April 2025 JB Data Engineering Newsletter.

If you’re like us, this time of year is flat-out busy with testing, setups and intense preparation in the workshop ahead of the opening weekends of many championships. The time for talking is over, the racing gets real and now’s the time you find out if all your preparation and planning has taken you, your team and your car in the right direction.

In this month’s news. we’ll be taking a detailed look at the RaceSense Tyre Gauge with optional temperature probe. Taking regular tyre temperature and pressure readings is essential to perfecting your setup and lengthening tyre life. Using the traditional gauge, pyrometer and recording data manually takes time, with  every second of delay reducing the accuracy of your readings. We explain why the RaceSense Tyre Gauge should be an essential tool for you at the track.

You may have noticed that we now have a ‘Book’ button at the base of the newsletter. If you want to discuss a technical issue, review options for new equipment purchases or generally get advice about data and video capture, you can book a 30-minute telephone consultation where we can discuss your issues in detail and provide solutions. At just £20.00 + VAT for half an hour, we think this represents excellent value and we hope we can provide some insightful support for you during that time.

A 30-minute consultation with a data engineering expert could be invaluable if you’re struggling with an issue and just want a detailed conversation. Click the ‘Book’ button at the base of this newsletter to set your appointment.

Finally, although the dairy is now pretty much full for weekends up to the end of season, if you need support at test sessions, please email us at www.jbdataengineering.co.uk or call (44) 7717 562169 . We’d be delighted to see of we can help.

The RaceSense Tyre Gauge Changes The Game!

Tyre pressures and temperatures are racing’s gold. Get them right and lap times drop while tyres last longer. Normally you’d be juggling a pressure gauge, pyrometer, a notebook and a pen while rushing to capture accurate data before tyres cool.

The RaceSense Tyre Gauge changes the game. Here are six reasons why we think the RaceSense Tyre Gauge should be essential equipment in your tool box.

1) Record Pressures Fast and Accurately: Record pressures on all four tyres without pressing any buttons. The starting tyre and direction (i.e. FL, RL, RR, FR - clockwise or anti-clockwise) can be preset, as can two- and four-tyre mode. The unit has the capacity for seven vehicles, allowing for easy switching between entries for a multi-car team.

2) Some Like It Hot: Include the optional thermocouple probe and the RaceSense Tyre Gauge can record the inner, middle and outer tyre temperatures. Data captured is accurate to within +/-1º C and the unit will additionally record time, date and ambient temperature, all of which can be exported.

3) There’s An App For That: The RaceSense Tyre Gauge has a built-in phone link, allowing you to upload data in less than a second and view it in the RaceSense app. If your phone isn’t available, you can plug the gauge directly into your laptop and download a CSV file.

4) Keep Your Data Secret: Instead of displaying your pressures on the RaceSense Tyre Gauge for all to see, select OFFSET MODE. This allows you to input your desired pressures beforehand, with the unit then showing the offset from these values rather than actual pressures on the screen. Adjust pressures until you reach zero and no one will know what pressures you’re running

5) It’s Tough!: The RaceSense Tyre Gauges’s die-cast, powder-coated, water-resistant aluminium case is designed to take a beating and with its durable polycarbonate screen, this tool will be a trackside essential for many years to come….as long as someone doesn’t ‘borrow’ it in the meantime! (Pro Tip: Inscribe your name on it.)

6) Battery Life Will Not Be a Problem: The RaceSense Tyre Gauge charges, upgrades and downloads via a USB connection and a single charge will last for 24 hours when the unit is in constant use - perfect for the world’s longest endurance races!

Remember: Using the RaceSense Tyre Gauge transforms the collection of tyre data and ambient conditions. Move away from collecting temperature and pressure data when you remember, to making it one of your most reliable data sets with the RaceSense Tyre Gauge!

VBOX Pit Lane Timer “Entrance-to-Exit Mode” Demo Video

Our friends at VBOX Motorsport have just released an excellent demo video of their Pit Lane Timer. If you’ve been a subscriber to our newsletters for some time, you’ll know how much we love this product.
