Welcome to the August 2024 JB Data Engineering Newsletter.
Hello and welcome to the JB Data Engineering August newsletter! July was a very busy month for the company as we supported teams and series across the country. The month included two visits to Snetterton which has the advantage, for us, of being our ‘home’ circuit.

British Endurance Championship / Britcar Trophy

JB Data Engineering provided data scrutineering services to the British Endurance Championship and Britcar Trophy Series at the BARC NW Meeting at Oulton park over the first weekend of July. The unpredictable summer weather meant that teams had to cope with mixed conditions with the BEC grid qualifying on a drying track before racing in almost perfect conditions.
Victory for Peter Erceg and Marcus Clutton in the #9 Audi GT3 meant that the PB Racing by JMH duo left Oulton Park with a lead of 11 points in the overall standings ahead Bal Sidu and Josh Steed in the #151 Xentek Motorsport Porsche GT4. The win in Class G went to the #66 SVG Motorsport Ginetta driven by Callum Pratt-Thompson and JamesTaylor. Pratt-Thompson (pictured below) also won the Outstanding Achievement of the Weekend award and the teenager is clearly on a path for a great career in sportscar racing
Competition in the Britcar Trophy Championship was as close as ever with the wet conditions for Race One causing an off-track excursion for the #5 Westbourne Motorsport Clio driven by Mike Bowman, bringing out the safety car after five laps. Datum Motorsport made it a 1 – 2 with Marco Anastasi bringing home the #4 Ginetta ahead of teammate Maurizio Sciglio in the #47 entry.
For Race Two the Oulton Park International circuit was dry, making for perfect conditions and some very close racing.
Seb Dubois in the #17 Ginetta took the chequered flag just .048 seconds ahead of Rhys Lloyd in the #609 Dragon Sport Astra. Cris Bialan, driving the #23 Gen 1 Cupra, was less than a quarter of a second behind Lloyd for the final podium position.
To get that much racing into one day meant that the timetable was necessarily compact and JB Data Engineering, as part of the Data Scrutineering team, would like to thank all the teams for their cooperation. Their help and support throughout the day was a massive help to us all on what was a demanding day of racing.
British GT

JB Data Engineering returned to the British GT Championship with Toyota Gazoo Racing UK and its #44 Toyota GR Supra GT4 Evo driven by Kavi Jundu and Dan Vaughan at Snetterton. For the two one-hour contests, tyre management was less critical than it would have been in the endurance races and in Race One Kavi and Dan brought the #44 car home 9th in the GT4 Pro-Am class. Race Two saw the #44 Toyota sidelined with a technical issue after 18 laps.

Unfortunately It was a frustrating weekend for the team and Toyota Gazoo Racing UK left Norfolk 8th in the GT4 Drivers Championship – Pro/Am standings. The team are looking forward to the final two rounds of the 2024 season and are determined to finish the year on a high. JB Data Engineering can’t wait to be back with Toyota Gazoo Racing UK at Donington Park in September.
Fun Cup Endurance

The Fun Cup Endurance Championship visited Snetterton in July and JB Data Engineering was there supporting Morpheus Racing and its three-car entry into this hugely popular series which offers endurance racing on a budget.
Chris Hart and Stephen Walton piloted the team’s #109 entry while Neil Burroughs and Ted Bradbury shared the driving duties in the #195 car. Christopher Weatherill, Jonathan Railton and Greg Evans completed the line-up in the #103 entry.

After showing good pace in practice, the team had a frustrating race with the #109 car getting a puncture and the #195 entry encountering technical issues. The #103 crew were running in the top six before their engine let them down after 34 laps.
Despite the challenges, JB Data Engineering thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and we are looking forward to rejoining the Fun Cup grid at Brands Hatch in August.
