The first weekend of August saw JB Data Engineering providing support to Jeff Smith and Jo Polley at the Mini Festival, held on the Indy circuit at Brands Hatch. Polley and Smith had a busy weekend with entries in both the Dunlop Mini Challenge supported by Mini Spares – Miglia class and also the Sanwa Trophy –Pre 66 Minis.

Mini racing is always fun and Jeff Smith left Brands Hatch after taking four podiums out of a possible five across the two classes while Jo Polley had a best-placed finish of 12th overall in Race 1 for the Mini Miglias. We hope that we can join Jeff and Jo again in the paddock for what is always great racing on highly competitive grids

The British Endurance Championship and ROWE Britcar Trophy were back at Donington Park for Round 5 of the BEC and JB Data Engineering was delighted to work in our regular role as part of the Data Scrutineering team, ensuring that all the competitors were adhering to the same technical standards and that the playing field was level for the 30 entries across both the championships.

In a highly competitive BEC race, Peter Erceg and Marcus Clutton in the #9 PB Racing by  JMH Audi GT3 took another overall victory but were pushed hard by the #55 JMH Automotive Lamborghini driven by John Seale and Jamie Stanley. Some ambitious driving at the start saw multiple contacts as the grid went into the first corner and the action continued throughout the two-hour contest.

After Donington, Erceg and Clutton lead the overall BEC standings on 160 points, 12 points ahead of the #161 Xentec Motorsport Porsche Gt4 piloted by Bal Sidhu and Josh Steed who finished in 4th overall at Donington and 1st in Class D.

The two 50-minute ROWE Britcar Trophy races saw victory in Race 1 go to the #50 Intersport crew of Jasver Sapra and Bryan Bransom followed by Ben Green and Stephen Fresle in the #43 Century and SGM Ginetta G56 GTA entry. The win in Race 2 was taken by Lee Goldsmith in the #10 Geoff Steel Racing BMW M3. Maurice Henry and Hadley Simpson lead the standings in the #88 High Row Motorsport Clio after Donington, just one point ahead of Mark Jones, Rob Ellick and Craig Fleming in the #7 TSR Audi TT.

As always, JB Data Engineering was proud to be a part of Claire Hedley’s team at Donington and we are looking forward to rejoining the BEC and Britcar Trophy paddocks at Snetterton in September for the season finale.

Fun Cup Endurance

(The #157 GMR/Eco Fun Cup entry driven by Gracie Mitchell and Ed and Chris Bridle )

JB Data Engineering provided data analysis support to Morpheus Racing, supporting their three-car entry in Round 7 of the Fun Cup Endurance Championship at Brands Hatch. Neil Burroughs and Ted Bradbury returned in the #195 car while the #103 Axiametrics-backed entry saw Christopher Weatherhill, Jonathan Railton and Greg Evans sharing the driving duties.

In the #157 GMR/Eco entry, Gracie Mitchell, making her fourth Fun Cup appearance, was joined by the Bridle twins,Chris and Edward, both of whom have considerable experience and who were the perfect mentors for their teammate, still in the early years of what promises to be a fantastic racing career.

Neil Burroughs put the #195 car on pole position and in a competitive four-hour contest, took first place on track before a 30-second time penalty was served on the duo for contact, demoting Burroughs and Bradbury to 3rd.

Both the #157 and #103 crews had solid races with the Mitchell and Bridle-crewed entry finishing in 8th, followed by the #103 car in 9th. Weatherhill, Railton and Evans finished 5th in the Masters class while Burroughs and Bradbury got the fastest overall lap time with a 56.583.

The #195 Morpheus Racing entry now sits 8th in the overall standings with the #157 and #109 cars 19th and 24th respectively.

Racing on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit is always very demanding due to the short lap time and JB Data Engineering had a very enjoyable day. We are looking forward to joining the team when the Fun Cup Endurance Championship visits
