MAY 24 NEWSLETTER

JB Data Engineering logo

Welcome to the May 2024 JB Data Engineering Newsletter.

Hello and welcome to the May edition of the JB Data Engineering newsletter. The 2024 season is now well and truly underway and below we’ve highlighted some of the acitivities we’ve been involved with. As you may know, sportscar racing is central to all our activities (although we’re very happy to support single-seater formulae!) and April saw us working within the paddocks of the British Endurance Championship, the Britcar Trophy and the British GT Champioship.

In between race weekends, we’ve been supporting clients throughout the UK with new equipment, training and support. Our Product Feature this month is the VBOX Mini Input Module which many of our customers are considering with a view to expanding the capabilities of their VBOX HD2 systems. We have a special ‘support’ deal for purchases of the VBOX Mini Input Module so click on the link below to order yours now.

We hope you’ve enjoyed a successful start to your racing in 2024

British Endurance Championship & Britcar Trophy

JB Data Engineering returned to its Data Scrutineering role for the opening race of the 2024 British Endurance Championship and Britcar Trophy at Donington over the Easter weekend.

15 cars, spread across seven classes, were on the grid for the two-hour BEC contest which saw the overall victory go to the #9 PB  Racing by JMH Audi R8 GT3 driven by Peter Erceg and Hugo Cook who finished a lap ahead of the #55 JMH Automotive Lamborghini Huracan GT3 of John Seale and Jamie Stanley. The rain that had blighted the UK for much of March largely held off throughout the day but a short shower at the start reminded competitors not to rely on the dry track conditions. Further rain with minutes remaining could have caused problems had it occurred half an hour earlier. As it was, the #9 car took a comfortable win.

What makes the BEC such a great series for drivers who are new to sportscar racing is that there is such a variety of categories on the grid that the disciplines of multi-class racing are soon learned, making the transition to prototype or an international series much more attainable.

The British Endurance Championship and Britcar Trophy returned at Snetterton just two weeks later where the Team Tasman Porsche 991.2 Cup car driven by David Harrison and Nathan Luckey took a solid second place finish in the BEC behind Erceg and Cook. The Team Tasman duo have competed in a variety of championships over the years and have now got their sights firmly set on BEC podiums in 2024.

As ever, JB Data Engineering was delighted to be part of the British Endurance Championship data scrutineering team and we are looking forward to another fantastic year working alongside Claire Hedley and her team.

GT Cup Championship

The 2024 GT Cup Championship got underway at Donington on April the 20th and 21st and JB Data Engineering was back working with Morpheus Racing and its pair of Mercedes-AMG GT4s. Competing within the GTH class, the Morpheus Racing #69 car was driven by Stephen Walton and Chris Hart while Jon Currie and Phil Keen piloted the sister #96 entry.

GT Cup competition is always intense and Chris and Stephen raced to their first podium of the season with a third-place GTH finish in Race Two of the four-race weekend schedule. Morpheus Racing left Donington with Stephen and Chris sitting in 5th place in the GTH championship standings with Jon and Phil two places back in 7th.

JB Data Engineering is looking forward to working with the team again when the GT Cup returns to Brands Hatch on May the 18th and 19th.
