A Busy Month with Ginetta GT Championship, GT Cup and Fiesta ST240 weekends!
Hello and welcome to the November edition of the JB Data Engineering newsletter. October has flown by and was one of the busiest months of 2025 with three season finale weekends packed into an already hectic schedule.
We opened the month with DTO Motorsport and the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship, supporting Emma Tomlinson in the #47 Ginetta G56 GTP8. Emma qualified 13th overall and 3rd in the AM class, finishing 10th in the opening race and securing a podium place in class. It was great to see all of Emma’s, and the team’s, hard work paying off with the #47 car scoring its second AM class podium of the season and finishing in the overall top ten for the fourth time.

The Race One points were sufficient to secure 13th place for Emma in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship Drivers Standings and third place in the AM drivers standings. We hope we can support DTO Motorsport for more success in 2026.
The following weekend we were back with SVG Motorsport, supporting their two entries in the 2025 GT Cup Championship. These weekends are always action-packed with qualifying and two races on the Saturday followed by the same again on the Sunday so there’s never a moment to rest!

With a two-car entry of Marc Elman and Owen Hizzey in the GTH class #99 Ginetta G56 EVO GT4 and Neil Wallace and Ian Astley in the #24 BMW M4 GT4 GTA-class entry, there was plenty to keep us focused. We were delighted to see Marc and Owen take two class podium finishes on their way to finishing 3rd in the end-of-season GTH standings.
Neil and Ian, meanwhile, finished on the GTA class podium on three occassions, wrapping up a busy weekend with a class win in their final race. With the 2025 season drawing to a close, it was fantastic to see Neil and Ian provisionally crowned as GTA class champions, the duo finishing nearly 200 points ahead of the nearest rival.

And so finally, it was off to Brands Hatch and the BRSCC Formula Ford Festival with JRW Motorsport. As any one who as ever attended the Festival will know, the schedule is packed (as are the garages and paddock!) and with JRW Motorsport’s eight cars to support in the AIRTEC Motorsport Fiesta ST240 Championship, our work was cut out over the busy two days.
We have thoroughly enjoyed our season with JRW Motorsport and we saw some great results at Brands Hatch. Probably the highlight of the weekend was seeing all eight cars take the chequered flag following Race Two with Morgan Kidd in the #53 car finally securing an overall podium and a 2nd-place finish in the PRO class. Out of the eight cars, seven finished on their class podium in Race Two, a very satisfying end to a demanding weekend.
Choosing Your Co-Driver: Comparing the Aim Technologies ECU Log vs. X Log
For any serious data engineer or racing driver, the foundation of performance analysis is a reliable, high-quality data logger. There are many on the market to choose from and JB Data Engineering can supply, install and provide training on units from the world’s leading suppliers.
Right now, however, we want to focus on two units from Aim Technologies. Aim’s range of compact, screen-less units - the ECU Log (£385 + VAT) and the X Log (£470+ VAT)¾are designed for maximum performance in minimal space, but they are built for distinct user profiles. Choosing the right one is the key to maximising your data capture on track.

The Pure Engine Optimiser: Aim ECU Log
The Aim ECU Log is a data logger that delivers exactly what the name suggests: it is the ultimate ECU interface. As the smallest and lightest logger in the Aim lineup, it’s size and weight make it ideal for applications where space and weight are critical, such as motorcycles, karts or single-seater cockpits where a dash is already in use or not required.
Its core function is to capture a huge stream of data directly from a vehicle’s ECU via CAN, K-Line or RS232 protocols.

The Aim ECU Log is most suitable for:
Engine Tuners and Technicians: Those focused purely on powertrain diagnostics like RPM, throttle position and temperatures and pressures read from the ECU.
Minimalist Setups: Users who only need ECU data and are happy to add a GPS module and a few analogue sensors later via expansion modules. The Aim ECU Log is one option for the most cost-effective entry point for serious ECU logging.

The Complete Performance Analyser: The Aim X Log
The Aim X Log takes the compact screen-less concept and elevates it to a complete, all-in-one performance logging solution. While it includes the same ECU connectivity as the ECU Log, it integrates two critical components internally that dramatically expand its functionality: a 25Hz GPS module and a 6-axis Inertial Measurement Unit.
This built-in hardware provides highly accurate lap-timing, track mapping and chassis dynamics (3D acceleration, pitch, roll and yaw) right out of the box, without needing any external accessories. It also includes integrated Wi-Fi for fast, cable-free downloads.

The Aim X Log is best for:
Driver Coaches and Setup Engineers: Thore who require chassis and driver performance data combined with engine metrics for a holistic view.
Complex Race Vehicles: Applications where a complete data set - GPS, IUM and ECU - is a necessary from Day One, offering the capability of a full-scale data logger like the Solo 2 DL but in a compact, dash-free format.
To summarise, the Aim ECU Log is for the user who values compactness and is primarily focused on engine health and tuning. The Aim X Log is the choice for the team that demands comprehensive driver and chassis dynamics alongside engine data, offering powerful analytical tools in the smallest package.
JB Data Engineering can supply and install both the Aim ECU Log and Aim X Log and can train you, your drivers and your engineers to get the most from your investment. Contact us now on +44 (0) 7717 562169 or email jordan@jbdataengineering.co.uk to discuss how we can help you prepare for the 2026 season.
Well, that’s about it for the November newsletter. If you’ve finished racing for 2025, we hope you enjoy your down-time and the start of the planning process for 2026. if, however, you’re racing in Asia, we hope your preparations go well and we wish you the best of luck for a successful campaign.
As we mentioned earlier, if you’re planning to shakedown your car in readiness for 2026, test a new driver or if you’re looking for support in the workshop testing, installing, servicing or calibrating your data and video equipment, JB Data Engineering would be delighted to help.
We look forward to our paths crossing soon.
All the best,
Jordan - JB Data Engineering
