Discuss Your Battery Isolator Requirements with JB Data Engineering
Hello and welcome to the JB Data Engineering August Newsletter. We hope you’re enjoying a fantastic summer and, if you’re taking a well-earned break from motorsport, we hope that you’re soaking up the sun and relaxing wherever you may be!
Moving forward, the JB Data Engineering Newsletter will be moving to a twice-a-month publication. With developments in the world of race car data, video and analysis moving ahead so rapidly, a new, regular format will enable us to ensure you’re kept up to date as new products are released.

CARTEK, world leaders in the design and manufacture of specialised electronic equipment for race cars, has recently announced the phasing out of its highly successful GT and XR range of battery isolators, to be replaced by the new X-Club and X-Pro systems. In this newsletter, we’ll be highlighting the advances in the X-Club and X-Pro isolators and suggesting why now might be the right time to upgrade.
Tech Update: Upgrading to CARTEK’s Next-Generation X-Series Isolators
For years, CARTEK’s GT and XR solid-state battery isolators have set the benchmark for trackside electrical safety. However, as motorsport electronics evolve, CARTEK is officially phasing out the legacy GT and XR ranges (spare parts will still be available, however) and replacing them with the all-new X-Club and X-Pro systems.
At JB Data Engineering, we view electrical reliability as the absolute foundation of telemetry and vehicle performance. Upgrading to the new X-Club and X-Pro Battery Isolator systems offer essential advantages you will not find elsewhere.

Advanced On-Board Diagnostics & Fault Protection
The primary limitation of CARTEK’s original isolators was blind troubleshooting during trackside electrical failure. The new X-Series solves this with integrated RGB status LEDs directly on the isolator unit and dashboard switch.
Using intuitive flash-code diagnostics, the system instantly communicates the root cause of an unexpected shutdown - whether it’s a short circuit, thermal overload, voltage drop or a broken cable. Combined with new overcurrent and overtemperature protection, the X-Series actively guards your loom and ECU against damage before a catastrophic failure occurs.
CARTEK has refined its product lineup to deliver clearer, more cost-effective solutions for specific paddock requirements:
CARTEK X-Club (The Clubman Benchmark): Replaces the GT unit as an ultra-compact (78g), highly cost-effective solution tailored for production-based engines up to 3.0L . It can handle 450A cranking (1500A surge) with a protected 10A engine stop output.
CARTEK X-Pro (The Pro & High-Horsepower Choice): Replacing the XR, the X-Pro is designed for high-capacity, high-compression or heavily tuned engines (including V8s and GT platforms). The unit can handle 650A cranking (2000A surge) and has a configurable engine-stop output (up to 20A in 5A steps) and an integrated Deutsche DT 12-pin connector, allowing compatible integration into professional motorsport wiring looms

Retained Core Strengths
Both units maintain CARTEK’s proven FIA-compliant sequential shutdown - killing the ignition seconds before isolating the battery negative from chassis ground - alongside built-in alternator dump load protection. Fully resin-potted, they remain 100% waterproof and immune to extreme engine vibration.
At JB Data Engineering, we can supply both the CARTEK X-Pro Battery Isolator and the CARTEK X-Club Battery Isolator as the units only (X-Pro: £217.50 + VAT, X-Club: £159.50 + VAT) or as full kits (X-Pro Kit: £259.00 + VAT, X-Club Kit: £199.50 + VAT). The kits include connectors and crimps, internal and external buttons and safety stickers.
