Hello and welcome to the September edition of the JB Data Engineering newsletter! Summer breaks are over for the most part and we’re now getting ready for the final rounds of the UK domestic championships before turning our attention to Asia, more of which later.

Our friends at VBOX have just released an upgrade to their popular Circuit Tools software with additions and evolutions which really take this feature-packed system up to the next level. VBOX Takes Circuit Tools 3 To The Next Level!

If you’re already using VBOX systems, then you’ll be familiar with Circuit Tools, the free data analysis software included with all VBOX data loggers. Circuit Tools is a game-changer for club racers and professional driver coaches looking to take their clients to the next level of competitiveness. Designed by drivers for drivers, Circuit Tools transforms raw data into actionable insights and syncs with VBOX HD2, Touch and Sport, analysing metrics such as throttle, braking and steering with integrated video playback.

VBOX has now developed the latest of iteration of its popular data and video analysis software - introducing Circuit Tools 3!

Circuit Tools 3 takes motorsport data and video software up a gear, boasting a streamlined interface for faster analysis. Circuit Tools 3’s intuitive interface automates tasks, instantly highlighting the fastest lap in green and an ‘ideal’ lap time from best sector times.

Here’s what’s new in Circuit Tools 3:

All-New Interface: Circuit Tools 3’s interface has been refreshed and modernised. If you want to look at a specific panel, you can now toggle others parts of the screen on or off and bring them back together any time using the check boxes or keyboard shortcuts. You can also manually make panels bigger or smaller.

New Graphs: The data graphs within Circuit Tools have been enhanced to improve their clarity and sharpness. A new drag-and-drop function allows you to consolidate multiple channels onto a single axis, with the added ability to easily change the colour on each data set for better differentiation. This is a great way to save space, especially when working with multiple channels.

Maths Channel: Circuit Tools 3’s Maths Channel upgrades supercharge data analysis for racers. Now more flexible, it lets you create custom metrics using VBOX data. Enhanced functions - square root, cosine and rate of change - deliver precise calculations, boosting setup optimisation. Increased reliability improves chained maths channels, streamlining analysis. The built-in channel library allows you get started quickly with data, only requiring the correct channels to be selected and configued.

Enhanced Reports with Histograms: Circuit Tools 3 now has the ability to produce enhanced reports through histograms. This lets you select channels for quick visual analysis, making it easy to spot trends and patterns in your data.

Satellite Track Maps + Overhead Car View:  The new track map with satellite imagery shows a graphic car overlay so you can easily see and compare your racing lines from lap to lap. By selecting Sector Highlighting, Circuit Tools allows you to clearly see your laps by segment.
