Entry-Level Data Loggers To Suit Your Budget- May 2025 Newsletter

JB Data Engineering logo

Welcome to the May 2025 JB Data Engineering Newsletter.

Hello and welcome to the May newsletter. We can’t believe how quickly the time is flying now we’re flat out into the UK motorsport season. We’ve included a brief outline below of some of the activities we’ve been involved in over the past few weeks and as you can see, it’s been pretty busy!

In this newsletter, we’ll be looking at entry-level data logging systems that won’t break the bank if you’re considering adding data and video to your trackside tools. As ever, if you’d like to chat to us about investing in equipment, please book a 30-minute consultancy session  with us (£20.00 + VAT for 30 minutes) using the links at the end of the newsletter. With a decade of experience in data analysis, we hope we can provide some useful insights that will help you get what you need without making an expensive mistake.

Finally, although the dairy is now pretty much full for weekends up to the end of season, we do have some space available (see end of newsletter) so if you need support at test sessions, please email us at www.jbdataengineering.co.uk or call (44) 7717 562169 . We’d be delighted to see if we can help.

Flat Out In April!

We started the season with the opening weekend of GT Cup at Donington, working with SVG Motorsports and providing data engineering services to the #99 Ginetta G56 EVO GT4 Evo driven by Marc Elman and Owen Hizzey in the GTH class and the #24 BMW M4 GT4 piloted by Neil Wallace and Ian Astley, competing in the GTA category.

The team enjoyed a fantastic start to the year with all four drivers standing on their respective class podiums across the three races. Marc and Owen took one class win and two second place GTH finishes to leave Donington second in the GTH standings, just 15 points behind the class leader.

Neil and Ian went one better with two victories in the GTA class and one second place finish. The #24 crew currently lead the GTA standings by 29 points which is a brilliant start to what will be a very competitive season.

Next up was the first round of the ProTyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship at Donington where we engineered the #47 DTO Motorsport Ginetta G56 of Emma Tomlinson, daughter of Laurence Tomlinson. The weekend finished with Emma second in the Am class and 9th overall so a solid start to the 2025 season with a new team who clearly have their sights set on race wins and championship titles.

That weekend we also provided Data Scrutineering services to the Britcar Endurance Championship at their opening weekend at Silverstone. It was great to be back in the BEC paddock and meet up with many familiar faces after the winter break. The racing was fantastic as always and we want to say a huge thank you to Claire Hedley and her team for inviting us back for our 4th season working as part of the BEC team.

Fun Cup Endurance Championship racing is always, as the name suggests, great fun and very competitive. JB Data Engineering was back with Track Focused for the Brands Hatch weekend. Supporting four cars meant that the weekend was demanding but the team’s efforts were rewarded with two podium finishes in class and the highest overall finish for the #251 Sheradize UK car driven by Peter Belshaw and Teddy Wilson who were 2nd overall.

After the Easter break we rejoined DTO Motorsport for the second weekend of the ProTyre Motorsport Ginetta GT Championship. Emma and the team worked hard on set up over the course of the test sessions and a DNF and a 7th in class finish were not reflective of the effort and concentration that both driver and team put in over the weekend. We are all looking forward to regrouping at Oulton Park later this month to chase more class podium success.

So it was a busy start to the 2025 season and there are lots more challenging race weekends to come! Thank you to all the teams who are using our services this year and we look forward to meeting up at a circuit soon.
