Happy New Year from everyone at JB Data Engineering!
As the festive lights come down and the calendars flip to 2026, teams and drivers across the globe are already turning their thoughts to the season ahead. Whether you’re chasing a British GT podium, defending an ELMS title or simply aiming for consistent finishes in your local series, preparation now pays dividends when the flag drops.
Get Race-Ready for 2026!
At JB Data Engineering, we’ve spent the winter helping teams get their data and video systems prepared and ready for the new season. From fresh VBOX HD2 installs to Ecumaster calibrations and CARTEK PDM wiring checks, the off-season is the perfect time to upgrade before the rush begins.
Here are a few key areas we always recommend tackling early:

Data Logger Health Check
Cold garages and damp winters play havoc with connectors and batteries. A quick diagnostic check now prevents mid-season headaches - we’ve seen more than one team lose a full session due to a corroded plug.
Software Updates & Configs
Race Studio 3, Circuit Tools 3, Ecumaster Client and RaceSense all received updates in 2025. Loading the latest firmware and tailoring your dash layouts while you’ve still got time means that you arrive at the first test with everything dialled in.

Spares Kit Refresh
Check those RaceSense hoses, VBOX cables and CARTEK connectors. A small investment in spares now saves a lot of stress when you arrive in the assembly area with a problem!

Upgrading from the Aim X Log Compact to the MXG 1.3: Competitive Advantages for Club Racers
For club racers considering stepping up from the Aim X Log Compact to the MXG 1.3 TFT Car Dash Display Logger, this upgrade unlocks real-time insights that could potentially shave seconds off your lap times. Don’t get us wrong: the X Log Compact is a brilliant, compact logger with integrated GPS (25Hz), 6-axis IMU, WiFi/Bluetooth and 4GB storage. It’s ideal for hidden installs and post-session analysis. The MXG 1.3, however, transforms data into an on-track weapon.

Real-Time Visibility on a Stunning 7” TFT Display
The MXG 1.3’s high-contrast 7” screen shows ECU data, lap times and alarms instantly - no more waiting for downloads. Customisable pages display speed, RPM, gear and G-forces at a glance, letting you react mid-corner if you need to. An ambient light sensor ensures readability in glare or night races.
Configurable RGB Shift Lights and Alarms
10 RGB shift lights and eight alarm LEDs (fully programmable) guide optimal shifts and warn of issues (i.e. low oil pressure flashing red). This on-dash feedback beats the X Log’s post-session review, helping you react instantly on-track.

Expanded Connectivity and Outputs
MXG adds two digital (1A at 12V) connectors for external systems (fans, lights) and WiFi for wireless config. It integrates easily with SmartyCam for video overlays, turning data into visual debriefs - perfect for your media team clips.
Broader ECU and Sensor Support
While X Log excels at ECU streams (K-Line/RS232/CAN), MXG supports 1,000+ ECUs with predefined maths channels and up to eight expansions (e.g. LCU-One Lambda). A built-in GPS09 Module provides precise lap timing without extras.

Cockpit Integration
The MXG TFT replaces analogue gauges, freeing up space in tight cockpits while logging everything the X Log does - plus displaying it live.
At £2,400 + VAT vs X Log’s £470.00 + VAT, the Aim MXG 1.3 TFT Car Dash Display Logger is an investment for serious club racers chasing podiums. JB Data Engineering supplies, installs and provides training and support on both systems - contact us to discuss upgrading and prepare to dominate in 2026!
